An intensive 4-month workshop to help you complete your poetry manuscript!
Are you confident in individual poems, but overwhelmed by putting together a book? Have you struggled to find mentorship that can provide a “bigger picture” of your work, and what it can do? This class is for you. This four-month course combines asynchronous weekday posts, readings, and prompts, with three-hour online seminars twice a month on Sundays (eight total) that are designed to solidify our craft conversation. We start by discussing ordering strategies and shaping a manuscript’s meta-text (titles, sectioning, epigraphs et al). Then we’ll then look at your proposed opening and/or closing poems, as a chance to get to know each other’s voice on the page and offer line edits. The bulk of our workshop time is devoted to exchange and review of manuscripts-in-progress. We’ll wrap up by returning to the topic of meta-text—sharing our Tables of Contents as an update to the work done in class—and discussing submission strategies.
