On Monday, February 3, 2020, The Word Works and The Writer’s Center will feature poets Jody Bolz and David Ebenbach. Café Muse opens at 7 pm with refreshments and classical guitar by Michael Davis; readings begin at 7:30. Open mic to follow.
JODY BOLZ is the author of The Near and Far (Turning Point, 2019), Shadow Play (Turning Point, 2013), and A Lesson in Narrative Time (Gihon Books, 2004). Her poems have appeared in journals such as The American Scholar, North American Review, Ploughshares, Poetry East, and Prairie Schooner among many others, and in a number of anthologies, including Ghost Fishing: An Eco-Justice Poetry Anthology (University of Georgia Press, 2018). She taught for more than 20 years at George Washington University and edited Poet Lore from 2002 to 2019. Among her honors are grants from the Rona Jaffe Foundation and the Maryland State Arts Council.
DAVID EBENBACH is the author of seven books of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction, including the new poetry collection Some Unimaginable Animal (Orison Books, 2019), the novel Miss Portland (Orison Books, 2017), and the short story collection The Guy We Didn’t Invite to the Orgy and other stories (University of Massachusetts Press 2017). His books have won such awards as the Drue Heinz Literature Prize, the Juniper Prize, and the Patricia Bibby Prize, among others. Born in Philadelphia, Ebenbach now lives with his family in Washington, DC, where he teaches creative writing and literature at Georgetown University.
