Written in Arlington (Paycock Press, 2020) is edited by Katherine E. Young. It is a print and digital anthology of the poets and poems of Arlington, VA, and contains work by eighty-seven poets and translators. Some of the poems were originally written in Hindi, Russian, or Spanish. The writers range from nationally known page poets to spoken word artists to high school students just beginning to write and perform, as well as a few “tourist” poets who have written about Arlington while passing through. Together they compose a “portrait in poetry” of the community that sits just across the Potomac River from Washington, DC.
Katherine E. Young is an acclaimed poet and translator and the author of Woman Drinking Absinthe (Alan Squire Publishing, 2021) and Day of the Border Guards (The University of Arkansas Press, 2014), Miller Williams Arkansas Poetry Prize finalist. She served as the inaugural poet laureate for Arlington, VA (2016-2018).
