Maia Elsner is the author of overrun by wild boars (flipped eye, 2021), which won a Somerset Maugham Award and was listed as one of the top ten books of 2021 by The Telegraph. Her work has been published in British, American, Canadian and Irish journals, and widely anthologized. A new chapbook of poetry and a debut non-fiction book are forthcoming from Guillemot Press in September 2023. Born in London to Mexican and Polish parents, she is currently finishing her MFA in Creative Writing at the University of Michigan.
Janel Pineda is an LA-born Salvadoran poet and U.S. Central American literary scholar. Her debut chapbook, Lineage of Rain, was published by Haymarket Books in 2021. Janel has performed her poetry internationally in both English and Spanish and her work has appeared in various anthologies. As a Marshall Scholar, she holds dual master’s degrees in creative writing and Latin American Studies from the University of London and the University of Cambridge respectively. Janel is currently pursuing a PhD at UCLA, where her research explores poetry as a liberatory and healing practice for Central American communities.
