This generative class offers inspiration and prompts to inspire the creation of four new speculative fiction stories in four weeks. Participants will read and discuss a different science fiction/fantasy short story each week (to be read ahead of time), then write to an in-class prompt to generate a new story of their own. Authors to be read include N.K. Jemisin, P. Djèlí Clark, Ursula Vernon, and Silvia Park. This is not a workshop, but participants will have opportunities to verbally share excerpts/ideas for brief feedback.
