Application deadline extended to August 31!
Finish your novel in just one year! Do you have a book-length work of fiction that can’t seem to find the time to finish? Are you stuck at a key point in a manuscript that you’ve poured your whole heart into? Do you feel like your novel is missing something, but you can’t quite figure out what that something is? Don’t despair — and don’t struggle alone! Give yourself the gift of creative community and join our year-long novel writing workshop with award-winning author and writing professor Dr. Mathangi Subramanian.
The first half of the course will consist of a series of generative exercises and focused workshops on craft decisions like point of view, tense, structure, character development, and world building. The second half of the class will consist of a series of focused workshops on revision techniques for the manuscript, chapter, and line level, as well as discussions and lectures about the publishing industry. Throughout, the instructor will regularly solicit feedback from students about their specific needs, and will tailor sessions according to this input. Students will have opportunities to receive instructor feedback on up to 25 pages of their manuscript, and to privately conference with the instructor about career or craft related queries. They will also have the option to schedule a 30 minute call to discuss their work and/or writing career related questions.
This virtual class of 10 people will meet every other Thursday from 8:00-10:00 PM EST. The course will be broken into two halves: September 7 – December 14, and January 4 – June 20 for a total of 21 sessions.
To Apply:
