Create a cohesive collection of your poems!
Join a group of committed poets to learn how to build a chapbook that is cohesive yet expansive. This workshop is for committed poets who have at least 10 finished poems and are working toward a chapbook (20-40 pages total). Where are the gaps—the poems still needed? What is your collection’s larger inquiry? How do you order poems for a chapbook? We’ll also discuss publishing options.
Live video conference: This workshop will be held via our online video conferencing platform, Zoom. You can view brief tutorials on using the platform here. On the start date or the day before, participants will receive an email with login info (please check your spam if you don’t see it).
In this workshop you’ll learn:
- What is involved in creating a poetry chapbook.
- Skills in thinking and talking about your work in a larger manner—as a collection of related poems that address larger themes or issues.
- Ways to order your poems into a cohesive collection.
- Chapbook publishing options, and where to learn more about them.
Time requirements
- After each session, participants will be asked to do an exercise estimated to take 1 hour.
Materials
- All reading materials will be provided.
