Improve your villanelle skills, or write your first one, guided by an internationally published author of villanelles, sonnets, and other metrical poems. We will first read classic and contemporary villanelles to see why they work. Next, the class will write a group villanelle, and then, with or without shortcuts, you’ll write one of your own. You’ll see how your new poem can be improved by revision, and leave with at least one new (draft) or improved villanelle, as well as insights about how writing poetry in form can unlock deeper meaning and enhance everything you write.
