Erasure poems are where the love of language, playfulness, and discovery meet to create something new and startling. From playful wordplay to a creative response to political redaction and systemic violence, the act of erasure can create poems that evoke and challenge while being very fun to make. We’ll look at a variety of erasure poems—from Mary Reufle, Tracy K. Smith, Layli Long Soldier, Solmaz Sharif, and others—to inspire and guide us. Join us to erase some new poems, free your creative spirit, and share some creations in this hands-on, no-experience-necessary class.
