In this introductory workshop we will explore basic elements of playwriting craft by writing and revising a ten- or fifteen-minute play and by reading selected short plays. We will begin with exercises designed to inspire the discovery of action that leads to a story. During the course of the weekly meetings, scenes generated by the workshop members will be read and critiqued with an eye towards heightening the dramatic and/or comedic potentials in our stories through revision. Finally, we will discuss opportunities and strategies for marketing our short plays once it is finished.
