SUMMARY:Your Literary Lineage: From Beloved Work to New Poems
DESCRIPTION:Turn your favorite poems into new and original work.\nOur poetic inspirations are a kind of chosen family. In this workshop\, we will explore the ways we can ethically be inspired by and pay homage to the writers we align with\, the ones who form our “literary lineage.” Choosing from both existing prose and poetry\, participants will generate new work. We will explore strategies and forms including allusions\, found verse\, ekphrastic\, centos and golden shovels. \n\nIn-person class: This workshop will take place at The Writer’s Center\, 4508 Walsh St\, Bethesda MD. \n\nIn this workshop you’ll learn:\n\nEthical uses of other people’s work\nnew forms\nvoice and style development\n\nTime Requirements\n\n120 minutes\n\nMaterials\n\nAll reading materials will be provided.\n\nWho should take this workshop?\n\nThis workshop is for beginning and intermediate poets who want to explore and deepen their connection to other voices while generating new work.\n\n\nIf you need an accommodation for this workshop\, please contact us at access@writer.org.
