Ann McLaughlin Scholarship Fund
The Writer’s Center invites you to apply for a creative writing workshop scholarship, for one scholarship per year, for any class up to eight weeks. Our scholarship program is designed to assist promising writers with financial need.
Along with the application form, please submit a statement of need, telling the Scholarship Committee why you are seeking aid, including general details of your circumstances (max word count 500). Submit the form and statement to: laura.spencer@writer.org.
Fine print: If for any reason The Writer’s Center has to cancel the chosen workshop, or the participant withdraws before the start date of the class, the amount awarded will be valid for one calendar year from its issuance as a credit. Terms and conditions are subject to change.
Judy Neri Scholarship for Disabled Poets
The Writer’s Center is thrilled to invite you to apply for the Judy Neri Scholarship, supporting disabled poets. Judy was was a writer in Silver Spring, Maryland, and a passionate supporter of the DC area poetry community. Click here to read more about her »
In Judy’s memory, each year, The Writer’s Center will award scholarships of $250 to 4 recipients (which may be used toward 1 or more workshops at The Writer’s Center). Applications will be open from September 15 to September 30, 2023, and 4 applicants will be randomly selected as scholarship recipients by October 7, 2023. The Writer’s Center defines disability as a physical, mental, cognitive, or developmental condition that limits a person’s movement, senses, or activities.
To be included in the lottery, simply send your name, email, address, and phone number to scholarships@writer.org.
