The Writer’s Center welcomes Sarah Keisler who will introduce authors to the process of publishing an audiobook-version of their story using audiobook creation platforms like ACX, Author’s Republic, and more.
Why Create an Audiobook?
Audiobooks are more popular than ever, and are a great way for both established authors and self-published indie writers to increase their works’ accessibility and popularity. Digital audiobook publishing, especially through subscription services like Audible, is at an all-time high in consumption. An Audio Publishers Association Sales Survey found that audiobook sales had increased 13% from 2023 to 2024. After a number of years of sales growing at a rate of at least 10% annually, sales rose 9% in 2023. 38% of American adults listened to an audiobook in the last year. Those who read via audiobook (at least once per year) consumed 6.8 titles in the year. Authors who take advantage of this popularity are primed increase their readership and grow their writing careers. Self-publishing authors who don’t have access to publishers’ audiobook-producing resources can now also create their own audiobooks through technology platforms like ACX.
